Christie Phillips received her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance from Wheaton College Conservatory of Music here in Illinois. She spent a few years teaching piano lessons before beginning an enlistment with the United States Navy Band Sea Chanters Chorus in Washington, DC. Singing with the Sea Chanters afforded her many exciting opportunities such as singing often as a chorister and soloist at White House State Dinners; President Ronald Reagan's funeral service at the National Cathedral; the dedication of the William J. Clinton Library; the 2004 Presidential Inauguration.
Some other highlights of her time in Washington, DC, included singing as a soloist in 2005 for the annual Messiah Sing-Along at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, accompanied by the Washington Opera Orchestra; and making a recording with the Washington Bach Consort of Bach Masses with Loft Recordings. Since becoming the mother of three vibrant young daughters, Christie has kept her singing up primarily on Sunday mornings, filling in as a section leader or soloist in churches around DC and Northern Virginia. After moving back to Illinois just this year, Christie is excited and honored to be singing this series with the Lakeside Singers.
